Classification of refractory fiber materials

Refractory fibers are divided into two categories: amorphous (glassy) and polycrystalline (crystalline). Amorphous refractory fibers, including aluminosilicate, high purity aluminosilicate, aluminosilicate with chromium, and high alumina refractory fibers. Polycrystalline refractory fibers, including mullite fibers, alumina fibers, and zirconia fibers. In addition to this classification, there are also classified by the maximum allowable use temperature of refractory fibers.



Introduction to various refractory fibers

Aluminosilicate refractory fiber with low impurity content of clay clinker (coke gem) as raw materials, by 1800 ~ 2000 ℃ high temperature melting, blowing or throwing into the fiber, fiber Al2O3 content of about 45%, long-term use temperature does not exceed 1000 ℃.

High-purity aluminosilicate refractory fiber using industrial alumina and high-purity silica sand or quartz sand as raw materials can also add a small amount of B2O3, or ZrO2, etc. as additives, mixed by ingredients, melting and blowing or shaking into fibers, made of fiber-containing Al2O350%, Al2O3 + SiO2> 99%, the highest use temperature of 1260 ℃, long-term use temperature of about 1100 ℃.

Chrome-containing aluminosilicate refractory fiber with industrial alumina, silica powder, and chromium oxide as raw materials, according to the silica powder 40% ~ 60%, industrial alumina 40% ~ 55%, chromium oxide 3% ~ 6% ingredients, melt blown or thrown into the fiber, the highest use temperature of 1400 ℃, long-term use temperature 1150 ~ 1200 ℃.

High alumina refractory fiber with industrial alumina and high-purity silica as the main raw material, with materials melt-blown or thrown into the fiber, to get more than 58% alumina content of high-purity glassy aluminosilicate refractory fiber. The maximum use temperature is 1400℃, and the long-term use temperature is 1200℃.

Mullite refractory fiber with aluminum chloride, metal aluminum powder, silica sol, ice acetic acid, and a variety of organic additives as raw materials, through the process of gum production, fibrillation, heat treatment, etc., to produce Al2O372% ~ 80% of polycrystalline fibers, the main component of mullite, the use of temperature 1300 ~ 1500 ℃.

Alumina refractory fiber with aluminum chloride, metal aluminum powder, silica sol, glacial acetic acid, and various organic additives as raw materials, through the process of gum making, fibrillation, heat treatment, etc., to produce Al2O395% or so, SiO2 about 5% of the polycrystalline fiber, the main mineral composition of θ-Al2O3 or α-Al2O3, the use of temperature 1400 ~ 1600 ℃.

Zirconia refractory fiber with zirconium acetate, zirconium oxychloride and YCl3, MgCl2, CaCl2, etc. as raw materials, through the process of gum making, fibrillation, heat treatment, etc., to make the refractory fiber with the composition of ZrO2 (including stabilizer) more than 98%, the use temperature of 1600 ℃.
